Defensive Handgun I -

This Basic Skill Set Course Will Cover:

• 4 Gun Safety Rules / Range Safety

• Drawing From The Holster

• Trigger Control & Sight Alignment

• Reloading Tactics & Malfunction Clearing

• Shooting From Sitting, Kneeling & Prone Platforms

Course Prerequisites:

• You Must Be Able To Legally Carry A Firearm

• You Must Be Physically Capable Of "Properly" Manipulating Your Pistol During Any Course Of Fire

How Experienced With Guns Do I Have To Be?

You Do Not Have To Be John Wick, Most Of Our Courses Are Designed For Entry To Intermediate Level, But You Must Be Able To "Properly" Manipulate Your Weapon System (Pistol) And "Always" Demonstrate Safe Shooting Fundamentals.

If You Are Not Capable Of This, Please Understand That In Consideration Of Everybody's Safety, The Instructor Will Have You Return Another Day For A Private One-On-One Training Session. It Is Our Policy That We Do Not Give Refunds, Only Credit Towards Another Class.

What Kind Of Gun Should I Bring?

We Suggest Bringing A Handgun That Is Mid Size-Compact To Full Size - Similar To A Glock 48/45/21/19/17, M&P 2.0/2.0 Compact, Sig 320/365/220/226/229/1911’S, Staccato C2 & P 2011’S, Walther's, CZ's, Beretta's And Others. Mid Size Revolvers Are Ok, But Please No Single Actions (Cowboy Style)

Can I Bring A Small Sub-Compact Gun, Such As S&W Shield, Ruger LCP Or Similar?

We Do Not Recommend It - Smaller, Sub-Compact Guns Are All Too Often, Not As Reliable And Are Far More Difficult To Manipulate (Especially With Safeties During Stressful Situations, Like A Self Defense Crisis). Also The Magazines Generally Hold Less Ammunition, So Your Training Time Would Be Frustrating And Less Productive.

What Holster Should I Bring?

Please Wear IWB/OWB/APPENDIX Holsters Only -- No Drop-Leg Tactical Rigs, No Police Duty Holsters, No Shoulder Holsters Or Cross Draw Holsters. It Is Very Important That Your Holster Be Made For Your Exact Model Of Gun. A Few Of Our Favorites And Top Holster Manufactures: Tenicor / Safariland / T-Rex / Kramer / LAS / DARA / Mitch Rosen / Alien / Blade-Tech / Galco / Bianchi / DeSantis / Aker Among Others.

Please No Blackhawk Serpa Holsters Or This Finger Indent Release Type (Unless You Have Exceptional Experience With It And Prepared To Demonstrate This Before The Course Starts) - There Is A Reason Law Enforcement Agencies And Professional Firearms Schools All Over The World Are Not Allowing This Holster Anymore.

Your Concealed Carry Holster Must Be Rigid And Stay Open When The Gun Is Not In Them -- No Collapsible Nylon Holsters Allowed, No Exceptions. Also, You Must Wear Pants That Have Belt Loops Unless You Are Using A Firm Clip Paddle Holster.

What Belt And Mag Pouch Should I Bring?

Bring A Rigid Gun Belt Such As The Hanks, 511 Tactical, Wilderness And Others -- 1.25" Or 1.5" Works Well.

Please No Collapsible Mag Pouches -- They Should Be Rigid Like The Holsters And Stay Open When The Mag Is Not In Them. Also Please No Battle Belt Rigs Unless They Are Low Viz-Concealable.

What Else Should I Bring?

• 300-500 Rounds (More Is Better)

• Minimum 3 Magazines Or Speed-Loaders

• Eye And Ear Protection

• Lights Snacks (Protein Bars/Etc) Sanitizer And Water
